New European Green Deal: Animal health sector ready to take up the challenge

The animal health industry in Europe welcomes the integrated approach to tackle climate change while creating a sustainable and resilient European economy, announced in the new European Green Deal framework proposal.

“The animal health industry takes note of the ambitious goals and is ready to rise to the challenge. For many years now our sector has not only been talking about addressing the issues affecting our food system; We’ve been actively developing new solutions to support more sustainable livestock farming, assessing the environmental impact of our products, promoting better welfare for the many animals in Europe, and promoting a full use of our toolbox to ensure the Responsible Use of all medicines in animals.”

“Our actions have taken effect, but we do not rest on our laurels. We stand ready to play our part and contribute in a balanced way to a greener, more sustainable European society with strong forward-looking policies based on scientific fact,” said Roxane Feller, AnimalhealthEurope Secretary General.

AnimalhealthEurope now looks forward to the release of the Commission’s Farm to Fork strategy, expected in Spring 2020.
