EMA to relocate to Amsterdam: Keep calm and carry on!
AnimalhealthEurope notes with interest the decision to relocate the European Medicines Agency to Amsterdam, the newly elected host of this very important agency responsible for scientific evaluation, supervision and safety monitoring of medicines for both Europe’s people and animals.
“We are confident that the Netherlands will take up the responsibility of host nation for the EMA with a much-deserved appreciation. We ask for a smooth transition period as the agency moves to Amsterdam, and for strong coordination with the UK regulatory authorities who have provided great leadership and expertise over the past years. Indeed, it is essential that workable solutions are put in place to encourage retention of expertise and to ensure minimum disruption to approvals of product developments and processing of authorisations. We will retain our good relationship with UK regulators through the National Office for Animal Health (NOAH) and continue dialogue with the national regulators around Europe. Vets, farmers, pet lovers and other animal owners will always need access to a wide range of animal health products to ensure the health and wellbeing of their animals. For this reason alone, we must keep calm and carry on!”, said Roxane Feller, AnimalhealthEurope Secretary General
